ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Lauren Goodwin is a children’s author who addresses delicate topics such as absent parents, grief, loss, and more. Born in Hamilton, Ohio, she discovered her love for writing during her formative years.

 

Lauren attended Miami University, where she graduated cum laude in 2014. While she initially studied Early Childhood Education and Journalism, she discovered a passion for helping youth in the justice system; this led her to change her major to criminal justice.  In 2016, Lauren earned her master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, where she further strengthened her writing skills.

 

Lauren actively serves as a community volunteer, advocating for children. She possesses a deep compassion for children who have endured trauma and abandonment and contends that these occurrences can steer children into the system. Her greatest hope is that her words can aid as healing and comfort to children who have endured or are enduring hardships.

 

In 2022, Lauren was unexpectedly diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. Although she loved working full time with children, she stepped down to manage her illness and maximize her time with her family. Ultimately, this began her journey of writing full time.    

 

Today, she lives in her hometown with her husband and their two daughters. They enjoy traveling and creating exciting memories, though they have learned to love the simplicity of the everyday things in life and treat each day as a gift from God, because that is what it is.
